United States of Africa Discussion

I found this notice from Bean Soup Times today particularly inspiring...So many doubters and haters and folks who want to see so many divisions amongst Afrikans....Here is a brother who works seamlessly with the African Union and with Afrikans here in Diaspora...Our vision has to extend beyond the rhetoric of who needs help the most and how we gotta focus only on our local communities --as if we can sustain any of our efforts without each other...anyway ck out Cedric Muhammad's travel video compilation too...

Cedric Muhammad, The Eclectic Economist

YouTube Video Collage On 'The United States of Africa'

(Cedricmuhammad.com) As many of you know, for nearly 10 years, I've been published in a variety of forums ranging from The Wall Street Journal to The Final Call on the issue of African politics and economics. Through BlackElectorate.com we have organized hundreds of thousands of viewers around news, current events and initiatives pertaining to Africa.

The crown jewel of my experience was the honor, 1 year ago, of being named by the African Union (http://www.africa-union.org/) as a Member of The First Congress of African Economists and subsequently participating in meetings in Nairobi, Kenya in March of 2009 over the question of how to unite Africa around a common market and single currency.

I was honored to have been named as Rapporteur To The Diaspora in The United States for the Congress, charged with the responsibility of informing those in America of this effort.

Since March, I have been working independently to popularize the movement toward a 'United States of Africa' in a variety of ways. In different mediums - through social media, blogs, essays public talks at universities, discussion on the streets of America, and in dialogue with celebrities like Hip-Hop artist Wyclef Jean (http://allhiphop.com/stories/editorial/archive/2009/12/15/22065404.aspx) - my goal has been the same, to raise awareness of the effort to reconnect Africa with her Diaspora, and develop her economy from the bottom up, in a manner that recognizes the human being as the greatest source of capital, to be cultivated and developed from within first, and eventually through an experience in trade and commerce.

I am currently working on a book based upon my proposal presented at The First Congress of African Economists and a vision for economic development based upon five principles: Trust, Trade, Transcendence, Travel, and Tolerance which were the hallmark of pre-colonial African empires. It should be published Allah Willing, in February.

As just another aspect of this overall effort, a new video collage of images, memories, and concepts related to this work, my reflections on it, and why a 'United States of Africa' is both justified and badly needed has been put together.

Its sole purpose is to virally inform, inspire, and stimulate deeper thought around the question of Africa's place in the world; the African Union (formerly the Organization of African Unity - OAU)'s near 50 year movement (and internal debate) to bring Africa together - culturally, politically and economically - why so little of its history is known; the global scramble underway for her resources; and suggest what the responsibility of Blacks and non-Blacks in living on the continent or not may be to end war on the continent.

The Original High Culture

Look. We are just keepin it real. The Wellness Revolution is in full affect. Many of us though have not been exposed to the Wholistic Perspective as envisioned by our ancestors. Real Traditional Afrikan Culture lies at the foundation of many of the "New Age" philosophies and metaphysical practices. We are clearing the dust off and putting the Traditional Culture in use for everyday living. We are grateful for the remnants of Afrikan Culture that have been kept alive thru so many other cultures. So, the Reclamation has begun! Wanna know what so-called Gen X'rs have been doing? Maybe we haven't publicly marched--but we have embraced the Spirit of Liberation and seek to live it-NOW!

Energy Science, Vibrational Science and Therapy as it applies
to Sound, Movement, and so much more will be available for your
experience at this particular event. This is only a small offering and
a beginning of a collaborative effort to expose the wider Afrikan
community to tools and techniques to increase daily life quality...Get me?
Stay tuned because the Frequency is increasing!

Polygamy and Polyamorous Relationships

I gotta read this book...give me a minute to get back on it. This topic is hot on the boards--but based on the fact that many folks I know are having a problem with themselves to the point where they can't even have a decent one on one relationship! As the Buddhists have said, the sword in the hands of a coward is useless. I wonder do we really want what we say we want, do we really want to be able to control our destiny? Again, we can propagandize and develop all the media we want but if we don’t extend the battle to the food and water then our people will not be able to hear us…it’ll be more like trying to argue with a person who is inebriated…whose really behaving foolishly in that scenario? Our people cannot hear us! We have sounded the battle cry but their ears and eyes are blocked with thousands of media hits per day! Their thinking is distorted by 100 teaspoons of white sugar per day! They cannot hear us AND they cannot think for themselves!! In their right minds they wouldn’t need to hear anyone because they would be taking responsibility for themselves! Those of us who can hear beyond the hype need to put our heads and spirits to work and break the hold on ourselves and as many of our folks as possible. We need to be organizing ourselves and taking retreats to re-strengthen and keep ourselves built for this battle! We need to spend more time genuinely elevating ourselves and thereby increasing the frequency of all things around us! We can blame no one if we continue in the same vein! We know who is really doing it and really committed and really striving to elevate based on the FRUIT PRODUCED! We all have a lot more work to do! And those of us who think that we can skip to the so-called original family of polygamy, has got to be joking! First of all, most of the people doing the research and scholarship are males, coming to male conclusions! If I researched the history of family structures I guarantee you that I will find the original and best family structure was one where the woman’s vagina was not on lock with one man! But that she could share and give with the men that she needed to in order to reach enlightenment to benefit herself, family and the wider community! Men would be able to hold ejaculations and she would be able to build and generate sexual healing energy based on her spiritual, mental needs, characteristics etc. I guarantee you that I will find that there is no perfect manifestation of the perfect family structure! Family structures have always been a work in progress and based on the nature of man, they always will be. What we need to be more concerned with is healthy, and fruitful relationships that produce qualitatively better offspring and the use of sexual energy for what is was intended—regeneration, revitalization, and healing for ourselves, our community and the world! Make no mistake, there are women out here doing this vital work—I dare you to open yourselves up to more than just polygamy so you can see the woman for what she really is—the first and most profound teacher and leader of all of us—are you man enough to support her in this role? How you going to have more than one wife when you don’t even know how to control yourself—or your ejaculation? How are women going to function really in that scenario when most of us are not trained enough about the true nature of menstruation and don’t know how to control it? How can you even expect folks to be able to embrace the polyamorous lifestyle at this point when even one man and one woman generally cannot maintain fruitful and positive relations? Putting the cart before the horse makes me wonder if true intentions have been revealed and again, a sword in the hand of a coward is useless!

The Afrikan Personality's Interjection on the World Stage

Part of the way in which we interject our personality is by living according to our basic traditions. No matter what type of Afrikan you may be, you know something about order, balance, reciprocity, truth, justice, propriety, and harmony. By birth and association we know these things. It is so much more beneficial for human kind if we practice being our Afrikan selves. In other words, if we keep it real, for real, those practices alone will get us closer to our goals of a United Afrika for Afrikans home and abroad! Of course, there are many steps involved in the unification process. We cannot skip this step if we tried. We have got to start talking and thinking unity--then we will perform unified actions...and there are still too many among us who are still telling the other version of our story. Case in point:

Heal Thy Self Cipher

This is what New Afrikan ImageMakers is about! Peace to all our lecturers out on the circuit studying and making it plain for the people! However, we need some straight up hands-on. People need to feel and experience wellness in order to create a neural net to help build well lives. Frankly, some people need to feel a little hocus pocus and this is the type of setting where you are guaranteed to fell magic. Not magic in some figurative, metaphysical, in the great beyond...but we need to be in touch with the power of ourselves that can only be demonstrated by ourselves. The secret is us doing us. The magic is us.

Anytime you can get several youth together all of whom are gifted in their respected fields, there is bound to be some furniture moving. Amazing...and afer all they said about the so-called Gen X...

Slavery. Mauritania. Obama-like Candidate.

Ck the Obama-like candidate in Mauritania...interesting.

Really, focus on problems is not the primary drive behind this blog. However, we must continue to apprise ourselves of the situations we face as a people. To be informed, and continuous study helps lend the urgency to our work. Anyway, many of us may not be aware of the seriousness that we face. We may not see the connections between us here and us there. Even after Dr. King told us that "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere". We must remind ourselves of the hope, the inevitable gains and the inevitable losses that we face in our quest to be Afrikan people.

This situation illustrates an important point

Show me where "foreign nationals" are so harassed and degraded in any Afrikan nation because they are from China or India or anywhere for that matter! Yes, Afrikan hospitality is unsurpassed and that is great...

However, the Afrikan life has value to ourselves and to the world--none of us seem to notice that right now. This is why the "interjection" of the Afrikan personality onto the world stage is crucial. We have got to increase our value in our minds and in the way we project ourselves so that the world knows what it is dealing with--The Original People and The Original High Culture! Take a clue from our ancestors, who sent us a message "Know Thyself"...
